About the Stowes

We are a family.  We seem so ordinary to us but perhaps a bit unusual to others.   We were married in 1978, increased our family in 1981 with a son, and again in 1984 with a daughter.  Such joy we had raising our children!   This seemed a bit surprising to us as neither of us grew up around children and we knew very little about them.  With the help of a wonderful mother/grandmother, reading a lot of Christian childrearing books, and attending homeschool conferences, we were learning that children really were a blessing!   However, as much as we loved being parents, having more children by birth was not to be.   The Lord was gracious to us however, and opened the doors to adoption . . . 8 times!  Our blessings include Andrew, Ted, George, Kamie, Buddy, Katie, Robby, and Mary.  The ages of our children range from 28 to 5!  Our two oldest are married and we are blessed to have two beautiful grandchildren.

Why are we blogging?   After much encouragement, we have decided to make an effort to share what we have learned over our 31 years of marriage and 28 years of parenting.   We have had times of prosperity and times of need; we have had mountaintop times of parenting and slippery slopes; we have had times we thought we “had it all together” and more realistic times when we realized that we don’t and neither does anybody else.  Our ultimate goal is to glorify God with our lives, our thoughts, our speech, our time, and our blog.
